Doug’s interest in Bigfoot began in the 1970’s when multiple sightings of a hairy ape type creature in Missouri, dubbed the Missouri Monster or Mo-Mo for short, were making headlines across the country. In the 1980’s, Doug attended several Bigfoot meetings, which further sparked his interest. In 1992, he began employment with the Guernsey County Library in Cambridge, Ohio where he had access to the state-wide sharing consortium and was able to order almost any Bigfoot book he wanted. He read everything he could find on the subject and in 2006, along with a friend, decided to start doing his own field research. In 2008, he formed the Southeastern Ohio Society for Bigfoot Investigation, or SOSBI, for short. His organization meets the first Saturday of every other month at the Crossroads Branch of the Guernsey County Library in Cambridge, Ohio at 7:00 pm. The club also holds campouts once a month every summer and fall from May through October at the primitive group campground in Salt Fork State Park. Anyone interested in Bigfoot research are welcome to attend any of the meetings and campouts. SOSBI also conducts investigations into any reports sent to them and has been very active in educating the public to the best of their ability, through speaking at libraries, to school groups, at Boy Scout events, and conferences. In 2013, Doug published his first book,Standing in the Shadows: Bigfoot Stories from Southeastern Ohio.He just recently completed his second book,Hidden Encounters: More Bigfoot Stories from Southeastern Ohio and Beyond. Doug very much enjoys getting out into the field and researching as much as possible and hopes to continue to gather witness reports and publish more books for Bigfoot enthusiasts to enjoy in the future.

Peter Wiemer’s interest in Bigfoot began 25 years ago when one of his friends, Larry Battson, released a series of tapes regarding his experience and research in the Bigfoot area. In 2011 Peter approached Larry to assist him in bringing a Bigfoot Conference to Chautauqua Lake. The first annual Chautauqua Lake Bigfoot (CLBF) Expo took place on May 6th, 2012. This event brought in national Bigfoot speakers from around the country to talk about their knowledge and experience with Bigfoots. Since creating the CLBF Expo, Peter is up to 26 eyewitnesses from Chautauqua County, eight from Cattaraugus County and more then a dozen from Warren County, PA who have contacted him resolving themselves in knowing they have seen a Bigfoot but were afraid to admit it publicly for fear of ridicule. Joseph Glarner, Mark Robinault and Peter wrote, directed and produced a documentary movie called I’ve Seen Bigfoot, a movie about Bigfoot eyewitnesses from Chautauqua & Cattaraugus Counties, NY, Warren County, PA and across the USA and was brought to iTunes and Amazon in 2017 for $ 4.99 and Free on Amazon Prime. Peter’s other video projects include Milt the Talking Musky. Milt the Talking Musky is a pre-school – 2nd grade Sight Word learning tool with a sing along karaoke kind of song which teaches 86 Sight Words in a mesmerizing underwater aquarium scene. In 2008, one of Peter’s employees showed Milt to some children she was tutoring outside of work including two twin six-year-old Autistic boys and for the first time ever, one of the boys attempted speech after watching Milt. Milt is listed on AutismSpeaks.org website under Video Tools & DVDs. Peter then created The iKidsFishing Show in 2008 which is a children’s fishing show starring kids teaching kids and you how to catch fish. Milt & iKidsFishing are available on iTunes & Amazon for $2.99.
We will announce soon Bigfoot and Monster Movies being planned. Pre-sale Tickets will go on sale September 1st. Make Your Cottage Reservations soon please… Enjoy…
Hello Everyone, my name is Peter Wiemer and I created the Chautauqua Lake Bigfoot (CLBF) Weekend & Expo seven years ago as a Tourism Special Event to help bring in Tourism to Chautauqua County and to our family’s business, We Wan Chu Cottages.
Since creating the Chautauqua Lake Bigfoot Expo in 2012, I am now up to 26 eyewitnesses to a Bigfoot sighting from here in Chautauqua County, eight from Cattaraugus County and more then a dozen from Warren County, PA that have contacted me resolving themselves in knowing they saw a Bigfoot but were afraid to admit it publicly for fear of ridicule.
I learned when doing a Bigfoot Show in Cleveland, Ohio in 2016 and from talking with attendees, that Bigfoots / Sasquatch will never be included to an Endangered Species list because it would decimate the Timber / Logging / Lumber Industries like it did with the spotted owl out west in 1990. The US Government will never acknowledge the existence of these bipedal animals because by doing so recognizes it being a rare animal which then would kick in the Endangered Species Act of 1973 signed into law on December 28th, 1973 by President Richard M. Nixon. The same is true regarding New York State in not recognizing the Mountain Lions here in Chautauqua County.
In recognizing its habitat being Woods / Forests & Swamps. We would then need to protect these woods and end up having to import almost all of our Timber / Lumber from Canada and elsewhere, quadrupling or more the cost of building a US Home, tanking the Banking Industry writing home loans and un employing millions of contractors, electricians, plumbers, loggers, truckers and a lot more (restaurants, gas stations, hotels and a lot more). It could even possibly outlaw Hunting. It’s all about the Economy and has nothing to do about the reality of Bigfoots.
The first documented sighting of a Bigfoot in the USA was in 1818 in a newspaper article from Sackets Harbor, New York. They were seen on the East coast long before the West coast because the East coast was settled first.
